Edible Roses

Description of some roses cultivars suitable for food purposes. The description is based on personal taste, but since few days is available on the subject this can help other researchers.
Most of them have been chosen with the help of radiesthesia to be good for health too.
Comments with other roses for food are welcome.

Frances Dubreuil : fine texture, delicate taste and strong fragrance, small flowers and petals. Gets burnt a little bit by the sum.

Marcel Pagnol: strong and sweet fragrance, aromatic taste but woody texture

Princes Alexandra of Kent: fine texture, delicate taste and fragrance, big flowers and petals

Duftwolke (Fragrant Cloud): Good texture, strong smell, but no so pleasent taste. Maybe good when mixed with other roses or cooked.

Mr Lincoln: under evaluation

Acapella: good edible, fine texture and smell

Crimson glory: under evaluation

Theo Clevers ™: under evaluation

Renée van Wegberg ™: good texture, but the taste is slightly under expectation.

Eveline Wild ™: good texture, medium smell, sweet taste.

Marie van Houtte: fine texture, delicate taste but almost no fragrance

Général Schablikine:  fine texture, delicate taste but almost no fragrance

Chinese and other Asian Peaches

Peach is considered by Zen culture the fruit of eternal life and few studies have been presented in order to investigate this fact (see: Sesquiterpene glucosides from Shenzhou honey peach fruit showed the anti-aging activity in the evaluation system using yeasts
Peach was domesticated in China and the ancestors of european cultivars came probably from Alexander the Great era. So to research for the "best" peach to have positive effect on health the main source of material is China.

The most promising cultivars are chinese landraces, which in europe are extremely difficult to find.

Cultivar Hakuto. Japanese peach.  Early ripening (20th of July in North of Italy). Good taste, medium sweet. Landrace ?



Cultivar Rou Tao. Chinese peach.  Early ripening (20th of July in North of Italy). Good taste, medium sweet. Landrace



Cultivar Wu Yue Xian. Chinese peach.  Very early ripening (25th of June in North of Italy). Good taste, sweet, small fruits. Landrace



Cultivar Huang Lu. Chinese peach.  Mid-ripening (20th of July in North of Italy). Yellow flesh. Good taste, sweet. Breeded



Cultivar Shenzhou Mi Tao. Chinese peach.  Mid-Late ripening (25th of August in North of Italy). Very good taste, extremely sweet. Low yield. Landrace

Cultivar Yumyeong. Corean peach.  Mid-Late ripening (25th of August in North of Italy). Good taste, medium sweet. Breeded
